Farewell haka for Isaiah (Matua Izzy)

Matua Izzy (Isaiah) left us yesterday to start a new career. In his 4 years with us, he has grown and so have we.

Isaiah has the knack of getting alongside children who were struggling or needing a little extra help. He has been kind and gentle and very caring.

Yesterday the school gathered to farewell him with our haka. The passion of the children is tremendous and it is an honour to be the focus of this taonga. I think Isaiah felt the emotion.

We wish Isaiah every success in his new career. Matua Izzy we will miss you.

Building Mathematical Capabilities

For the past 18 months we have been working with Rob Profitt-White on the  "know, understand , do" aspects of the revised curriculum as this relates to mathematics.

The tamariki love the challenges and problem solving activities through MoveNProve, RecallNReason, DiscussNDefend, OpenUp, TwoTruthsNOneLie.

Over the next few weeks parents are invited to come in and observe and play the games to test their mathematical flexibility. Some games are a lot harder than you would think.

As the children say over the school p.a. system "All ages welcome. See you there."
