After all of the rain we were worried that our grounds would be too wet to hold this fantastic celebration on Nov 03.
Our seven Kahukura Schools were represented by about 700 of our students who performed waiata and haka. This was not a competition but an opportunity to show case the learning the children had completed as part of our Change Makers unit across the community of practice.
Thank you to all of the whanau who attended the picnic to support the children. We were thrilled that Rachel Davis ERO took some of her own time to see the work that we have done together in our schools. Thank you too to Minister Megan Woods and Danielle O'Halloran who gave their time to attend this special community event.
We love the collaboration between the principals, boards of trustees, teachers and parents. If we are strong as a constellation of schools then we can confidently say that the children in our area have a much greater guarantee of high quality education regardless of which of our seven schools your children attend.
What a game. There were some wonderful players in the Halswell Team who were just as determined as our children to qualify for the finals. The players tore up and down the court with some wild throwing followed by some magic buckets. We won and the celebration was noisy. Thank you to all of the parents, grandparents and friends of the children and school who turned up to support. Dave Langrell you are a kind and generous coach. Thank you for all that you do for these children. Fraser Ferguson and Toby Langrell have made it into the Pioneer All Stars Team. Woo hoo.
Congratulations Rochelle on receiving the Pioneer Stadium Award for Basketball Administrator of The Year. Rochelle puts in many hours outside of learning time to make sure that our children have many rich opportunities to excel. Our basketball teams are rocking it and we have three teams in the finals.
