Marriene Langton Principal/Tumuaki
Tēnā koutou e te whanau. This is my 16th year as tumuaki of our lovely kura. I am one-eyed when it comes to providing the very best education for all of our tamariki, strong connections to whanau and applying attachment theory so every child has a champion adult at our school who believes in them unconditionally. I just can’t see past it. Our kaiako and kaiawhina go the extra 50 miles to give our children the best chances to succeed. My family is number one. After 20 years of camping holidays in Kaiteriteri, Graham and I are recidivist “glampers “ and ready for new adventures in our latest caravan. It’s brilliant when our family joins us too.

House Day

Libby and Charlotte organised a brilliant House Day for the tamariki and kaiako. Boy oh boy are our teachers competitive. I took my life into my hands when I had to choose the  winning mural that best depicted the story and symbolism behind their house. There was some very clever thinking, although teachers were very quick to tell tales on each other if they had so much as looked at a piece of chalk.

The whole day was a day of carefully organised fun and challenge and once again I acknowledge the ways in which our kaiako go way above expectation to provide memorable experiences for our tamariki. Thank you folks for your mahi and generosity.

Staff Meeting Kai Cooker Delights

Twice a term we have a late night staff meeting from 3.15 to 7pmish. Last time Pauline and Roy helped us to prepare meat and vegetables in the kai cooker so that our teachers could enjoy a meal together instead of having to go home after a long day and think about kai.

The food was delicious and we ate our fill, then kept the left overs for lots of the children the next day. We even put on a big morning tea and our student teachers the next morning and they will leave our school thinking that food rolls off the production line.
