There were a few tears, and to be fair, I would cry at the thought of doing a Try-Athlon, but the competition was fierce. Thanks to Andrew who made sure that we had plenty of sun screen, or sun Mayonnaise as Matua Glen calls it. It was a hot morning and we were so thrilled by the determination of the children to give everything a try. Hence the name Try-Athlon. I saw the benefit of the last few weeks of intensive class swimming lessons. This is a direct result of the volunteer mahi of the Pool Committee. If you see them at the pool, please thank them.
I listen to what's happening in other schools and while some are winding down with free choice and Christmas decoration making, our staff is hard out planning and delivering a fantastic event like this. Our tamariki really do come first. It was brilliant to see so many parents, grandparents and caregivers here too.
