Marriene Langton Principal/Tumuaki

Marriene Langton Principal/Tumuaki
Tēnā koutou e te whanau. This is my 16th year as tumuaki of our lovely kura. I am one-eyed when it comes to providing the very best education for all of our tamariki, strong connections to whanau and applying attachment theory so every child has a champion adult at our school who believes in them unconditionally. I just can’t see past it. Our kaiako and kaiawhina go the extra 50 miles to give our children the best chances to succeed. My family is number one. After 20 years of camping holidays in Kaiteriteri, Graham and I are recidivist “glampers “ and ready for new adventures in our latest caravan. It’s brilliant when our family joins us too.

Fono/Hui

Thank you so much to Nesa, Lou and Georgia and all of the team for organizing the fono/hui last night. It was so much fun and just great to connect with whanau. Some told their stories through art and some played musical instruments. Man we had a great jam jamming.

I caught up with an ex student who is a daddy himself. He survived my teaching and wanted another dose of "Mrs Langton" for his children. Mind you, he and his twin brother Graham and cousin Adidas made me join in a Pasifika Dance at a big celebration in the university buildings many years ago.

I enjoyed getting to know Dan and Pania. Dan is a trickster. It was worth the laughs.

I hope more can make it next time. Fono/hui are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate together, eat good kai and have lots of laughs.
