Lou, Nesa and the cultural team organized a lovely fono/hui evening. It was great to see new parents come along. It is hard to break the ice when you join a new school community.
There was delicious food, good company and some performances by our tamariki and staff.
Our staff spend many hours at school long after they should be at home with their own families, but I never hear them complain because they do this to build relationships with whanau and to give the children extra opportunities to shine.
I love those evenings.
Every time though I catch Whaea Janice in the kitchen doing her impression of Mrs Wishy-Washy. Janice washes and dries everything. She is a hard worker who keeps the wheels turning behind the scenes in every school activity.
