Marriene Langton Principal/Tumuaki
Tēnā koutou e te whanau. This is my 16th year as tumuaki of our lovely kura. I am one-eyed when it comes to providing the very best education for all of our tamariki, strong connections to whanau and applying attachment theory so every child has a champion adult at our school who believes in them unconditionally. I just can’t see past it. Our kaiako and kaiawhina go the extra 50 miles to give our children the best chances to succeed. My family is number one. After 20 years of camping holidays in Kaiteriteri, Graham and I are recidivist “glampers “ and ready for new adventures in our latest caravan. It’s brilliant when our family joins us too.

Thunder and Lightning. Very, very Frightening!

Come thunder or lightning the Tryathlon will go ahead. Oh my. It started to thunder part way through the event and then the rains came. Megan had done a wonderful job of organizing the event and then the weather had different ideas. I can't remember the last time we had lightning and thunder and definitely not when it was right overhead. The children soldiered on and we finished the event very fast. Swimming was eliminated from the programme and then everyone took shelter. We really are  the Crowded House country of Four Seasons in One Day. It wasn't quite the tension of a highly competitive event but it was an event we will talk about for a while. Well done everyone who persisted and got their part of the Tryathlon completed. There are some soggy, but happy tamariki and kaimahi back in the classrooms.
