Wearable Arts at the Cultural Festival 2019

Special thanks to Jude for her creative thinking and imagination once again. The costumes were spectacular and we are so proud of the work that the children completed. I think WOW might have to set aside a slot for us at the big international show in Wellington next year.
Woohoo for Te Ara Koropiko West Spreydon School.

Prime Minister's Surprise visit to Te Ara Koropiko West Spreydon School September 13 2019

It was a fantastic surprise to find out that the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was planning a surprise visit to our school. It was very exciting to meet with her driver and then her security team because that is when we started to believe that she was really coming here. The Prime Minister was here to see how schools are using Sparklers to support student hauora,
and to view some of the work of Te Mana Ake.
She was genuinely interested in the children and took a lot of time out to speak with them and the staff. We were able to show her some of the trees that Jim and Carol Anderton had planted here over the years. Dr Megan Woods accompanied her to the school and we were delighted to see her as she has had a long time interest in our school and our community.
Te Ara Koropiko rocks it again.

Staff dodgeball, Te Mana Ake and Basketball

Never go up against the staff team in dodge ball. Just as well there is a Medic who can come to the rescue when one is grievously wounded by the ball! The children love it.

Te Mana  Ake has been working with a group of boys to give them an experience of the art of bone carving. It was fantastically successful.

Jackson Timaloa plays for a combined basketball team and along with our other teams, won the competition for his team two weeks ago. Well done.
