Marriene Langton Principal/Tumuaki
Tēnā koutou e te whanau. This is my 16th year as tumuaki of our lovely kura. I am one-eyed when it comes to providing the very best education for all of our tamariki, strong connections to whanau and applying attachment theory so every child has a champion adult at our school who believes in them unconditionally. I just can’t see past it. Our kaiako and kaiawhina go the extra 50 miles to give our children the best chances to succeed. My family is number one. After 20 years of camping holidays in Kaiteriteri, Graham and I are recidivist “glampers “ and ready for new adventures in our latest caravan. It’s brilliant when our family joins us too.

Waimokihi Enviro Study

For several years we have worked in partnership with Christchurch City Council , Nature Agents and Enviro Canterbury. The Wai Mokihi has cultural and historical significance for our school and our school, name is derived from the bends in the river and the pathway or journey that the river takes through our school.

We have been a part of The mother of All Clean-Ups for several years and the health of the river matters to us as kaitiaki/caretakers.

It was a busy day on Friday as our senior students joined in to learn about the animal life, velocity, true left and true right, and the health of the water. It is brilliant to have these opportunities to learn about our environment and to recognize that we can affect the health of a wonderful local resource.

2022 Is Here

We had a couple of work focused and fun days together as a staff before all of the children returned to school. We had to play some of the games we were going to be teaching the children  and learn some new skills. I had a hard job keeping them out of the sandpit and off the bike track.

The joy on the children's faces when they saw the parts of the landscaping that were open for them, was terrific to see. One of our school values is Adventure and we have thought long and hard about how we can make school a wonderful place for all children to enjoy and want to learn. It has taken a huge amount of planning and saving to get to this point and we are so proud of what we have achieved for the children. Dreams are possible. Thank you to everyone who has partnered with us to make this happen.
