Marriene Langton Principal/Tumuaki
Tēnā koutou e te whanau. This is my 16th year as tumuaki of our lovely kura. I am one-eyed when it comes to providing the very best education for all of our tamariki, strong connections to whanau and applying attachment theory so every child has a champion adult at our school who believes in them unconditionally. I just can’t see past it. Our kaiako and kaiawhina go the extra 50 miles to give our children the best chances to succeed. My family is number one. After 20 years of camping holidays in Kaiteriteri, Graham and I are recidivist “glampers “ and ready for new adventures in our latest caravan. It’s brilliant when our family joins us too.

Year 5 and 5 camp at Woodend

I couldn't think of a better way to wear out already frazzled and exhausted teachers, than by sending them away on a 5 day camp to Woodend with loads of year 5 and 6 tamariki. The children were amped and the kaiako were prepared for the siege.

It was amazing as always. Our parent helpers were truly sensational and I do want to thank all of them. They took time away from work at their own expense and spent hours each day, and night, making sure that the children were fed and watered, having fun, meeting challenges and then eventually tucked in for the night.

Our staff is second to none. Their personal dedication to the wellbeing and enjoyment of the children is tangible. They were kind, generous, supportive and funny even after 4 nights and five days with little sleep.

The food was delicious and no-one went hungry, even even remotely rumbly belly. It was good kai.

As always the majority of children took on every challenge and I'm not so convinced that I would have, even at their age.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible and especially to the staff and volunteers who left their own families for a week to ensure that our children had the time of their lives.
