Marriene Langton Principal/Tumuaki
Tēnā koutou e te whanau. This is my 16th year as tumuaki of our lovely kura. I am one-eyed when it comes to providing the very best education for all of our tamariki, strong connections to whanau and applying attachment theory so every child has a champion adult at our school who believes in them unconditionally. I just can’t see past it. Our kaiako and kaiawhina go the extra 50 miles to give our children the best chances to succeed. My family is number one. After 20 years of camping holidays in Kaiteriteri, Graham and I are recidivist “glampers “ and ready for new adventures in our latest caravan. It’s brilliant when our family joins us too.

Parent Meeting Restorative Practice

After coffee on Friday Mornings Janice organizes parent education meetings. They are a lot of fun and  a time for discussion and learning. Last week was about Restorative Practice and how that works at school.
The parents  have decided that they would like a couple of sessions with Leanne our Social Worker in Schools to go over some parenting tips. It's never too late to pick up new ideas. Being a parent is a hard job and it's good to know that we are not alone with the issues we have to address with our children.
The parents would also like a session on iPad apps and how and when to use them to help with the children's learning. The leadership team had just learnt about Augmented Reality and we were keen to show off the knowledge so that parents could engage children in reading.
So here we are-one cup of coffee and a fresh muffin later. Learning together is the way to go at WSS.
