Marriene Langton Principal/Tumuaki
Tēnā koutou e te whanau. This is my 16th year as tumuaki of our lovely kura. I am one-eyed when it comes to providing the very best education for all of our tamariki, strong connections to whanau and applying attachment theory so every child has a champion adult at our school who believes in them unconditionally. I just can’t see past it. Our kaiako and kaiawhina go the extra 50 miles to give our children the best chances to succeed. My family is number one. After 20 years of camping holidays in Kaiteriteri, Graham and I are recidivist “glampers “ and ready for new adventures in our latest caravan. It’s brilliant when our family joins us too.

Carnival Day

Every year the weather likes to play havoc with our plans and this year we had Plans A,B,C, and D. It was forecast to be wild weather but we made it through.

There was a bouncy castle, musical instruments, Lego and blocks, IT, art, playground games and of course the pool with our bouncy castle and floaties. The children had a brilliant tome.

Special thanks to Libby, Pauline, and a huge number of grandparents and parents who came to help. It was special to have ex pupils helping out too.

There were ice blocks, crisps and delicious BBQ sausages with tomato ketchup and mustard. Just what the Doctor ordered for the last full day at school.

My very special thanks to individual families, Project Esther and Ellesmere Food Bank who donated special gifts for many of our whanau so that they can have a very special treat at Christmas. We know how hard it is for families and buying extras can be almost impossible to manage in the family budget. The gifts were so generous and thoughtful. It was heartwarming to hear the "Thank yous" from those who took the time to acknowledge that others were thinking about them. Many of our families give generously to others even though they are not wealthy themselves. That is the mark of a  generous and kind community.

Merry Christmas everyone and many blessings for 2025.
